Announcing my DigiWriMo project – 30 Days of Social

As I mentioned in my ‘links of the week‘ post, I have signed up for Digital Writing Month. This means that over the month of November, I will write 50,000 words of digital writing.

Since DigiWriMo is devoted to the medium of digital writing, my 50,000 words will take the form of blog posts, right here on ivrytwr. Every day (or more realistically, almost every day) during November I will write a post examining social media and its role/application in society.

Some of these posts will discuss ideas for how social media can be used to connect, engage, and collaborate. Other posts will examine case studies for how to and how not to use social media. There may even be a book review or two. All the while, I will be collecting all the links and references I come across in the writing of these posts to create a digital literary review/bibliography for applications of social media in the digital humanities.

At the end of the month I hope to have around 30 different posts examining social media and the digital humanities as well as an extensive bibliography.

Sadly, given the amount of work required to accomplish this goal, all of my posts on ivrytwr during November will focus exclusively on my DigiWriMo project. I’ll still be welcoming submissions, so there will hopefully still be some non-social-media-focused content on the site.

If I manage to complete my goal and I’m happy with the end product (and those are two extremely big ‘if’s'), I will edit the project and share it as a freely downloadable ebook sometime in the new year.

I will create a new tab at the top of site dedicated to my DigiWriMo project that will be updated throughout the month. A tentative list of post titles can be found below, though these titles are subject to change. More titles will be added as I go along.
